Most entertainers have long since hung up their boots by this age but nothing seems able to stop Frank so the legendary comedian is on his way over to the Costa Blanca to perform in Torrevieja’s The Lounge Bar, on Thursday November 18th. Lounge Bar owner Tom O’Brian has been an innovator when it comes to bringing over UK talent to perform on our shores. And for the last couple of years, every November The Lounge Bar has featured a main line Northern Irish comedian either in the shape of Jimmy Cricket or Mr. Carson.
Carson became a popular performer on Irish television, before moving to England to work as a stand-up club comedian. He had success on the long running television music-hall revival show, ‘The Good Old Days’. He then went on to win the peak-viewing national favourite talent show ‘Opportunity Knocks’, presented by the veteran presenter Hughie Green, three times. In the early seventies his big break came when he was invited to join the team on ‘The Comedians’ alongside the likes of Charlie Williams, Bernard Manning, Mike Reid and Jim Bowen. The show consisted of 30 minutes of non-stop stand-up comedy from several comedians in each show. It became a hit in the United Kingdom and helped establish Carson's career. The Comedians led to similar shows, ‘Who Do You Do?’ and ‘The Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club’ making Uncle Frank a regular on television during the seventies and eighties.
At 83 he still loves performing and while he’s able to do so, he shall continue. However, flying at his age can take it’s toil so book your tickets now and enjoy a great belly laugh with one of the classic comedians who influenced many that were to follow him.
