The boat has a completely flat bottom and paddle wheels to navigate the lakes. This method of transportation was worker powered and causes zero pollution and little disturbance on the surface of the salt lakes. The boat is painted in vivid red, green and blue/grey colours, mainly to make them easy to spot while out working on the lakes.
The vessel is the latest attraction to the ‘floating’ museum beside Marina Salinas in Torrevieja. ‘Pascual Flores’, the last of Torrevieja's ancient coastal shipping fleet, Coastguard vessel ‘Albatross II’, and the jewel in the crown of the museum, the Delfin S-61 submarine, given by the Spanish Ministry of Defence to the town of Torrevieja. Also on display are a Torpedo, Mine and other attractions. This ever growing attraction is open Wednesday through Sunday, morning only, during winter. It’s a perfect time to go as visitor numbers are lower than the summer months, the weather is great and it’s almost like having a personalised tour of the vessels.
